President
Yale Abernathy is a photographer, writer, and composer currently studying Ethics and Politics at the University of Austin. Prior to UATX, Yale has worked as a lab technician at Atom Mines, a nuclear medicine developer; a photographer for Crux Defense, a US military contractor; and as a producer and session musician in Austin. As President of the Austin Union, he hopes to participate in recording the institution's development and progress, both through the unique power of images, and the gravity of the written word.
Vice President
McKenna Conlin is a lifelong debate enthusiast from Seattle, Washington. Through mock trial at both the high school and collegiate level, she has argued with the best fake lawyers in the world. In her role as Vice President, she wants to bring the best version of the world’s most urgent questions to the debate stage. She knows that the journey to becoming a great speaker is both work and play. She is honored to be a part of UATX’s inaugural class and the first council of the Union.
Director of Comms.
Hayden Kress is studying political philosophy at the University of Austin and brings to the Union a strong background in business and communications, having launched multiple online businesses and gained first-hand experience in the early-stage startup ecosystem. He aims to develop the Union into the default platform for leading academics, political leaders, and entrepreneurs to debate the most pressing matters of our time.
Treasurer
Samuel Indyk is a truth enthusiast, part-time lover of literature, and a student at the University of Austin. He will debate anyone on anything, anytime. He especially likes to question and dispute people's most fundamental beliefs, which has perhaps been detrimental to his relationship-building at times. However, he has not been executed for corrupting the youth yet, and therefore maintains his fearless pursuit of truth with upright zeal. He is honored to be a part of Austin's newest and most interesting debate society.
Parliamentarian
Noah Files is a student at the University of Austin. He is a long time debater, having participated in both Team Policy and Lincoln-Douglas Debate throughout high school. As the Parliamentarian of the Union, Noah believes the Austin Union can be a hub where the most important issues of modernity are discussed and debated, and freedom of inquiry is not just a slogan, but the standard.
Events Coordinator
As Events Coordinator, Analina is excited to bring her passion for community, hospitality, and dynamic programming to the Austin Union. A former varsity debater and an active researcher in anti-human trafficking initiatives, Analina combines advocacy with action. With a personal love for cooking, baking, and all things hosting, she is thrilled to be in a position to bring those things together to serve her fellow students. Whether hosting lively debates or cozy socials, Analina is committed to cultivating a spirited, intellectually engaged community.
